  • [00:03:04] Today we welcome Dr. Frederick Buskey to the podcast. After spending 17 years in K-12 teaching and administration, Dr. Buskey transitioned to higher education for 13 years in principal licensure programs. 
  • [00:07:02] Teachers are like seeds in a school, needing good soil (a good principal) to grow.
  • [00:08:01] Community is important for assistant principals and teachers to combat isolation and provide support and perspective.
  • [00:16:01] Finding a community can be difficult for teachers, and online platforms are often the default. Caitlin and Dr. Buskey discuss how to find positive communities for the support online.
  • [00:19:52] Teachers prioritize efficient content planning to focus on standards and student needs rather than trendy distractions. This shift requires discipline but leads to a more meaningful approach to teaching.
  • [00:25:28] In order to thrive in the classroom, it’s also important that teachers practice self- care. Dr. Buskey and Caitlin explore how important exercise, meditation, and intention are for maintaining a healthy body and mind.
